Freestyle Equipment Guide

Freestyle skiing takes skill and courage.  The right equipment can help make tricks easier and safer.

Park Skiing and Riding Equipment Guide

Skis

Choose a light pair of twin-tip skis.

Detune and dull the edges underfoot for jibbing and sliding rails.

Select a ski length between eyebrow and forehead height.

Choose a narrower park width for easier spinning and jumping.

Wax and maintain your skis throughout the season.

Snowboard

Choose a Freestyle board, flexible with turned up ends

Detune and dull the edges underfoot for jibbing and sliding rails.

Short enough to allow for tricks, wide to increase balance

Wax and maintain your board throughout the season.

Boots

A softer flexing boot is recommended for park skiing.

The boot should be snug but not uncomfortable.

Buy boots that fit properly and consult with your coaches if you have any questions.

Bindings

Bindings must be currently approved and DIN rated for your athlete's ability.

Gloves

We love the rope tow, and the rope tow loves to eat gloves. Please make sure your athlete has durable gloves and/or glove covers for practice. Having an extra pair of gloves for wet days never hurts!

Links to gloves suitable for the rope:

Kinco gloves at the Option 4 link can be found at local hardware stores in adult sizes.

Night Training Equipment

Wear goggles with a clear lens.

Dress in extra layers.

Helmets

Helmets are manditory for all training activities

Bottom Line
