OUR LEARN TO SKI PROGRAM

For children ages 4–7, this program is designed for those with little to no skiing experience who are eager to learn the fundamentals in a small, supportive class environment.

Over the course of five lessons, skiers will work on building confidence and skills in the following areas:

  1. Becoming comfortable in ski equipment

  2. Learning to move and skate on skis

  3. Snowplow turns and stops

  4. Riding the kiddie rope tow at Abenaki

By the end of the program, the goal is for each child to confidently ride the kiddie rope tow and ski down independently.

Program Details:

  • Five Saturdays in January and February

  • Class Duration: 1 hour

  • Class Size: Up to 20 kids, 5 kids to 1 instructor ratio

Equipment & Preparation:

  • Seasonal rentals are available for a cost through our partnership with Ski Works in Ossipee, NH.

  • Parents are expected to ensure their child is dressed in appropriate snow gear, has all required equipment, and is ready to begin 5 minutes before class start time to allow for an on-time start.

Participants must purchase an Abenaki Ski Area season pass, available through Wolfeboro Parks & Recreation.

Scholarships are available to help cover the cost of lessons, season passes, and equipment. We are committed to making skiing accessible to all families!

The Abenaki Ski Team is funded entirely by dues and fundraising.  The mountain is supported through the Town of Wolfeboro, the Abenaki Outing Club and the Friends of Abenaki, which are 501(c)(3)s.
