U12 ALPINE RACE TEAM
For 2026-27 Season: Age 10 or 11 as of December 31, 2026 (born in 2015 or 2016)
Our U12 program begins to place greater emphasis on individual goals and development while athletes continue to train in a team environment. U12 athletes can vary significantly in size, strength, confidence, maturity, and racing experience. Our coaches recognize that development isn't linear and work with each athlete at their individual level rather than measuring progress against teammates.
Training at the U12 level becomes more event-specific, with a focus on Slalom, Giant Slalom (GS), and speed events. Practices emphasize technical proficiency and applying strong skiing fundamentals to a variety of training and race situations.
At U12, we emphasize the process over the result. A successful race isn't necessarily the one with the fastest time. Success may mean executing a skill an athlete has practiced, skiing confidently through a difficult section, recovering from a mistake, or having the courage to try something new. Athletes train as a cohesive team, with race days focused on gaining experience, building confidence, and having fun.

U12 US SKI & SNOWBOARD (USSS) Membership Requirements
NEW THIS SEASON: All Abenaki U12 athletes must have a current U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership regardless of whether they plan to race or not.
If your athlete plans to race:
-
Purchase an Alpine Competitor U12 & Under Membership. Racing athletes must also hold a New Hampshire Alpine Racing Association (NHARA) Competitor Membership, which is added during the U.S. Ski & Snowboard registration process.
-
When registering with USSS:
-
Select New Hampshire and Abenaki Ski Team under “State & Club” affiliation.
-
Confirm that Division/State Dues appear in your cart–they should be automatically added. These dues include the required NHARA membership fee.
If your athlete does not plan to race:
-
Purchase an Alpine General Membership (Non-Competitor)
Most U12 Abenaki athletes participate in sanctioned races and should select the competitor membership. Please complete all required memberships before the racing season begins.
Scholarships
We are committed to keeping skiing accessible to all families. Scholarships are available to help with program fees, season passes, and equipment costs.

ACCESSIBLE TUITION
Thanks to fundraising, grants, volunteers and community support, every Abenaki athlete’s tuition is already subsidized and is significantly lower than the cost of comparable programs across New Hampshire.
PARTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Reserved for families who need additional support. No application or explanation is required. Because choosing the reduced rate increases the amount the club must raise, we ask families who can afford the standard tuition to select that option. This helps preserve reduced tuition for those who need it most, and ensures that cost does not prevent any child from participating.
Full Assistance
If even the reduced price is out of reach, say so. Full assistance can cover tuition, the season pass, race fees and equipment, which are the costs families usually get caught out by. One email to the club is the whole application. Strictly confidential, it stays between you and us.
