Where local kids learn to love winter

On weeknights under the lights and Saturday mornings from December through March, the little town hill on Pine Hill Road is full of local kids. Some are on skis for the very first time. Some are chasing a racing dream or landing their first 360 in the park. All of them are learning grit, friendship, and a lifelong love of winter and the outdoors.

The Abenaki Outing Club is a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, now in its 15th season at the town-owned Abenaki Ski Area. Our mission is simple: safe, affordable skiing for every child, through our Learn to Ski, Alpine racing, Nordic, and Freestyle programs.

We receive no funding from the Town of Wolfeboro. Every program runs on tuition, volunteer hours, and the generosity of local partners like you.

By the numbers

  • 200+kids ages 4 to 18 on the hill last season
  • 6programs: Learn to Ski, Nordic, Freestyle, and Alpine, plus new this season Alpine Development and Junior Freestyle groups
  • 60+kids in Learn to Ski last season, many of them on snow for the very first time
  • 30+Nordic skiers, up from just a handful three years ago
  • 6Wednesday nights of our new adult and family Race League, January 13 to February 17
  • 100%of families get tuition subsidized by fundraising, with further full and partial scholarships for any family who needs more support

Whether a child is taking their first wobbly run, gliding through the Nordic trails, landing a new trick in the park, or racing gates, they are getting great coaching at a tuition local families can manage.

Sponsors help us say yes to every kid who wants to be on snow.

Why partner with us

  • Reach local families where they gather. Hundreds of parents, grandparents, and neighbors come through the lodge and line the race course every week of the season.
  • Your name on something people remember. A race league, a whole program, or a first day on skis, with fresh banners, signs, buffs and shirts each season.
  • Real impact, right here. Your gift goes straight to scholarships, equipment, and keeping tuition within reach for every family.

Other ways to give

  • Jackets. A one-time gift of $2,750 buys ten team jackets for families who can't afford one. We will lend them out for years to come. Jackets will be labeled inside saying "Generously gifted by [Your Name]"
  • Name a scholarship. Give a child a full season on snow, in your business's name. Each amount covers tuition, a season pass, and any required memberships: $400 for Learn to Ski, $600 for Nordic or Freestyle, and $1,500 for an alpine racer, which also covers race fees. Reach out and we'll share the details.
  • In-kind partners. Race-day food and hot cocoa, equipment, printing, or services, recognized at the level of their value.
