What goes in the bag

Learn to Ski and U8 through U14

Alpine

  • Helmet required at every practice and race, no exceptions.
  • Each Alpine age group's page lists what that group must have and what is nice to have, in the club's own words.
  • Boots that fit now, not boots to grow into. A loose boot is the fastest way to lose a season.
  • Equipment rentals from the club: full package $300/season, partial $150, single item $25.
  • Bring skis, boots and a helmet. No poles. Seasonal rentals through the club's partnership with Ski Works in Ossipee, NH.

Skiers and snowboarders up to age 18

Freestyle

  • Helmet required. A mouthguard is a good idea once you are on rails.
  • Twin-tip skis or a park board. Regular all-mountain gear is fine for a first season.
  • Detune the tips and tails so the edges do not catch on boxes and rails.
  • Practice is Monday nights under the lights, so bring a low-light goggle lens.
  • Skiers and snowboarders are both welcome, up to age 18.

Beginner through age 14

Nordic

  • Nordic equipment is included in tuition, with help from the Killington World Cup Foundation.
  • Classic and skate skis, boots and poles are all provided. Sizing happens at the first practice.
  • Dress lighter than you would for Alpine: layers you can shed, a hat and light gloves. You will be working hard.
  • Nordic skiers need a Wolfeboro XC trail pass, not an Abenaki pass. Buy it online or at the Nordic Skier.
  • Wednesday practice runs to 5:30pm, which is after dark in December and January. A headlamp helps.

Alpine age groups

Which group is my child in?

It goes by age on December 31, 2026, not age today. That is US Ski & Snowboard’s rule, and the club’s groups follow it.

Born inAge on Dec 31Group
2019 or 20206 or 7U8
2017 or 20188 or 9U10
2015 or 201610 or 11U12
2013 or 201412 or 13U14
  • A child who is 7 today and turns 8 by December 31 is in U10 this season.
  • Born in 2021 or later? Start with Learn to Ski or Development.

  3. 03

Pick a program and session, then choose full or reduced tuition.

  4. 04

Pay by ACH (no fee) or card (3.5% fee), or set up a payment plan on any program.

Season pass

Before your first day

Alpine, Freestyle and Learn to Ski athletes need an Abenaki pass from Wolfeboro Parks & Rec. Nordic skiers need a Wolfeboro XC trail pass instead. The team sells neither.

How to get your pass

Weather and closures

Dress for it

  • Night skiing: three nights a week.
  • Races are seldom canceled for weather. Be prepared for cold, wind, sleet and rain.
  • Practice cancellations go out by email through Ski Club Pro, usually by mid-afternoon.
